Students learn how our eyes perceive light. Experiments show how light can be reflected, refracted and filtered through lenses, prisms and spectrometers. Students make a thaumatrope to take home. *7th through 9th grade students perform experiments with optic lab benches. *2 hour program/additional $2.00 per student.

| Experience physics in action through hands-on activities and demonstrations using familiar and old fashioned toys. Students experiment with the forces of gravity and inertia by observing and manipulating materials, forming and testing their own hypothesis. A concrete understanding of conservation of energy along with kinetic and potential energy is achieved when students make their own toy to take home. |
| ELECTRICITY & MAGNETS Supported by JDS Electric Corp. |

Max: 50 students |
Visit Your Site: (1hr) $235 first presentation
$200 each for additional on same day
Max: 25 Students
|
| Electricity comes alive in demonstrations using a Van de Graaff generator and Tesla Coil. Students discover the basics of electricity and magnetism through hands-on experiments. Concepts are reinforced as they make an electrical circuit project or a static box to take home. |
| FLIGHT |
| 3rd - 6th |
Science Center Visit:
(1 1/2 hrs) $8 per student
Max: 50 students |
Visit Your Site: (1hr) $235 first presentation
$200 each for additional on same day
Max: 25 Students |
| Why do airplanes fly? Concepts discussed include: gravity, lift, air pressure and other scientific principles. Students participate in demonstrations and hand-on activities that end with the assembly and testing of their own Balsa airplane. |
| FLOATING |
| 1st - 6th |
Science Center Visit:
(1 1/2 hrs) $8 per student

Visit Your Site: (1hr) $235 first presentation
$200 each for additional on same day
Max: 25 Students
|
| Why do ships float? Density and buoyancy come alive with demonstrations and hands-on activities using a water tank. Students experiment with different solids and liquids for a concrete understanding of density. Cartesian diver supplies are provided for take home project. (Children/teachers should have empty water bottles for home Cartesian divers.) |
| FORCE AND FRICTION |
| 1st - 4th |
Science Center Visit:
(1 1/2 hrs) $8 per student
Max: 50 students |

$200 each for additional on same day
Max: 25 Students
|
| Students will gain an enduring understanding of the concepts of force, motion, and friction through a series of hands-on, highly engaging activities. They will participate in hypothesis formulation, data collecting and problem solving while utilizing concepts of push/pull, momentum, conservation and transference of energy. Each child will create a spinner to take home that illustrates these ideas. *Two (2) Adult volunteers are needed to help in classroom. |
| GRAVITY AND BALANCE |
| 2nd - 6th |

Visit Your Site: (1hr) $235 first presentation
$200 each for additional on same day
Max: 25 Students
|
| Center of Gravity and Center of Balance are tested using hands-on activities with ramps, feathers, and each other. Learn about Newton's and Galileo's theories. Defy gravity by balancing 9 nails on one. Students construct their own balancing toy to take home. |
| PHENOMENAL PHYSICS |
| 5th - 6th |

| Hands-on experiments revealing Newton's 3 Laws of Motion. Centripetal force and "moving topics" discussed. In a lab setting students test these laws using ramps, cars, and marble runs. Analytical thinking and deductive reasoning engage participants in formulating and testing hypotheses. Discussion of Amusement Park Physics included. |
