Birthday Parties

Give your family and friends an edutainment experience that they will never forget with one of our specially customized STEM Birthday Parties.

What Is Included:

Goodie bags $5.00/bag. Must be booked in advance. Add a mini stuffed animal or brain teaser game for $1.95.
Bags must be ordered in advance and will be packed and ready for your party.

When Can I have a party?

Because you have exclusive use of the museum, we allow birthday parties to occur before and after hours from 9am-11am and from 5pm-7pm.

COST:  

$395* (up to 20 children; $13 for each additional child; 25 child maximum). A deposit of $150 is required to hold your date. Reservations can be made over the phone by calling (631) 849-6503.

*Members receive $45 discount.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes, you are welcome to decorate. You are allowed to arrive 15 minutes in advance of your event and may bring in whatever you would like as long as you are not using any adhesives that will damage walls or our property.

  • You are welcome to bring in anything you would like 15 minutes in advance of your event.

  • You can check on availability by either calling (631) 849-6503 or emailing booking@sciencecenterli.org.

  • You must leave a deposit to reserve your date. This may be done either over the phone or in person during normal business hours Monday - Friday 11am-5pm.

  • Yes, the parents of your guests are welcome to stay.

  • If you are planning on serving food, you must bring in the food as well as plates, napkins, and utensils. If you are serving beverages, you will need to provide the beverages as well as any cups that are needed for serving. We may be able to store drinks temporarily in our limited refrigeration if prior arrangements are made. We provide generic table coverings, however you are welcome to bring in themed ones.

 
  • Yes, we allow food only for private events. Many people opt to have either bagels or donuts during the morning slot and pizza or other light food for the evening slot. We have very limited cool storage. Please let us know in advance if you are in need of refrigeration. If you are not sure where to order from, our staff can make local suggestions. Email booking@sciencecenterli.org if you need help with local food sourcing.

  • We usually suggest that hot food should arrive one hour into the party. Room temperature food can be brought in at any time.

  • Typically, we will wait for the majority of your guests to arrive (usually within 10-15 minutes of your invitation time). Then we will present your program and experiment. Once the children have completed their experiment, they will go and explore the museum while the staff helps set up your food. The birthday attendees will return to eat. Children will return to the museum to play with the staff helps clean up and reset for your dessert. Birthday attendees will return for dessert and then your party will end.

  • Yes, because of parental permission and age restrictions as well as the time it takes to use both the virtual reality and drones, these exhibitions are not available for use during the party. If you would like your birthday honoree to be able to use these, please let us know. We usually suggest that they do so before or after the event.

  • Your party fee is for the 2 hours of the event. If guests would like to stay beyond the end time of your event they would need to purchase admission with the day staff.

  • Yes, but they would count as part of your head count which is limited to 25 children.
