Engineering Lab

Students have the opportunity to brainstorm to design, build, and test their own creation in our engineering lab programs. Imagination and experimentation come alive. All classes can be conducted in both English and Spanish. To find out more or to book a program, click the inquire button below.

Junior Engineers: Grades k-2 (Choose from 3 different themes)

Simple Shapes and Structures - Explore the strength of different structures through construction of different models.

Simple Machines: Duplo in Action - Using age appropriate kits, students will build various simple machines.

Straw Rockets - Design, build, and test launch your very own rocket!

NGSS Leaning Standards: K-2-ETS1-1, K-2-ETS1-2, K-2-ETS1-3

ENgineering Lab: Grades 3-8 (CHoose from 8 Different themes)

Action Contraptions - Make an easy task very complicated by building a Rube Goldberg machine.

Aerospace Engineering - Learn how airplanes fly and apply concepts of gravity, lift, and air pressure to build and fly your own airplane.

Bridge Building - Design, construct, and test your very own bridge.

Balloon Powered Vehicles - Using the concept of Newton’s 2nd Law of Motion, participants design, hypothesize, build and test their vehicle.

Catapults - The power of the lever comes to life when participants build a fully operational catapult and, of course, test it out.

Doodle Bots - Solve the engineering puzzle to build a simple robot that will draw. This program has a supplemental fee. Visit to your site is $370 for the first session and $325 for each additional. A visit to the Science Center with this program is $16 per student.

Environmental Engineers: Building Alternative Energy - Harness the wind or sun.

Hot Air Balloons - Students will build and test a hot air balloon demonstrating how the heating and cooling of air can de harnessed.

Hover Crafts - The future is here! Engineer a vehicle that floats on air.

Simple Machines: Lego Engineering - Levers, pulleys and simple machines come to life when students build them.

NGSS Learning Standards: 3-5-ETS1-1, 3-5 ETS1-2, 3-5 ETS1-3; MS-ETS1-1, MS-ETS1-2, MS-ETS1-3, MS-ETS1-4

Master Engineers: Grades 9-12

Earthquake Shake - Learn about building resilient communities by building, testing, and improving earthquake resistant towers.

Air Powered Vehicles - Ready, set, blast-off! Use the power of air to pump up the race to the finish line of the vehicles you build.

Hydraulic Challenge - Use the power of fluid to learn about hydraulics and controlled motion.
